WHO WERE THE GENERATIONS OF SOLOMON?
Note: the numbers given for the sons are my addition, meant to clarify the 'contradiction' here. Some names are spelled slightly different in the two texts.

I Chronicles 3:10-13 And Solomon's son was 1) Rehoboam, 2) Abia his son, 3) Asa his son, 4) Jehoshaphat his son, 5) Joram his son, 6) Ahaziah his son, 7) Joash his son, 8) Amaziah his son, 9) Azariah his son, 10) Jotham his son, 11) Ahaz his son, 12) Hezekiah his son, 13) Manasseh his son, (KJV)

Matthew 1:7-9 And Solomon begat 1) Roboam; and Roboam begat 2) Abia; and Abia begat 3) Asa; And Asa begat 4) Josaphat; and Josaphat begat 5) Joram; and Joram begat 6) Ozias; And Ozias begat 10) Joatham; and Joatham begat 11) Achaz; and Achaz begat 12) Ezekias;(KJV)

Matthew skipped a few generations, which is permissible is Hebrew genealogies.  To say 'Ozias begat Joatham', while it usually means that Ozias would be Joatham's natural father, could also mean that Ozias was a forefather of Joatham.  Not a contradiction.
