DO WE DIE FOR OUR OWN SINS?  OR DID JESUS DIE FOR THEM?

Deuteronomy 24:16  The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. (KJV) I Peter 3:18  For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (KJV)

The Deuteronomy passage is speaking of justice in the Israelites' legal system, saying that the Israelites could not legally punish one man for the sins of another.  The 1 Peter passage is speaking of God's grace and forgiveness and has nothing to do with the Israelites' legal system.
