| IS THERE ONE GOD, OR MORE THAN ONE? |
| Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
(KJV)
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (KJV) Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: (KJV) Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (KJV)

| There is only one God, as Deuteronomy says. The two passages in Genesis make reference to the plural nature of God (evidenced by the trinity, which I don't have the space to get into here, but it doesn't contradict the idea of a single God. It basically means that God is able to manifest Himself into different parts). The Exodus passage has many meanings. It tells us not to worship false gods, or to treat ourselves or our possessions as gods, but to put the one true God before anything else in our lives. Not a contradiction. |
