DOES THE BIBLE FAVOR, OR OPPOSE, WOMEN'S RIGHTS?

Genesis 3:16  Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (KJV) I Corinthians 14:34  Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (KJV) I Timothy 2:12  But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (KJV) I Peter 3:6  Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. (KJV) Judges 4:14 -15 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.  And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet. (KJV) Judges 5:7  The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. (KJV) Acts 2:18  And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: (KJV) Acts 21:9  And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. (KJV)

A full explanation of each of these passages would be too much to get into here.  But the Bible says that, in a marriage relationship, the woman is to be subject to the man.  This is symbolic of the relationship people are meant to have with God.  This does not imply that women cannot be leaders or prophets, however.  Contrary to many people's understanding, the Bible reveres women.  It was women who were Jesus' most loyal followers, who annointed Jesus despite the protests of Jesus' male disciples.  It was women who first found out about the resurrected Jesus, since they came to the tomb while the men had lost faith.  While some of the Bible's ideas may not be popular with some people, they are not contradictory in these matters.
