DID GOD CHANGE JACOB'S NAME TO ISRAEL?

Genesis 35:10  And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. (KJV) Genesis 46:2  And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I. (KJV)

Note: The assumption of contradiction here is that God changes Jacob's name to Israel, and then later calls him 'Jacob'. According to Matthew Henry's commentary, "God called him...by his old name...to remind him of his low estate; his present fears did scarcely become an Israel."  Not a contradiction.
