WOULD JESUS INHERIT THE THRONE OF DAVID?

Luke 1:32 He (Jesus) shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (KJV) Jeremiah 36:30  Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost. (KJV) Matthew 1:11  And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon: (KJV)

The assumption of contradiction is that God said that Jehoiakim (aka Jechonias) would not have a descendant sit upon the throne of David, and Jesus' genealogy in Matthew shows that He is a descendant of Jehoiakim. However, the genealogy in Matthew is not that of Jesus, but that of Joseph.  Joseph was not Jesus' father, so Jesus is not descended from the line in Matthew's genealogy, but of the genealogy in Luke (Mary's genealogy), which does not include Jehoiakim.  Not a contradiction.
