IS BOASTING FORBIDDEN?
Luke 18:14  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (KJV)

II Corinthians 11:16-18 I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.  That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.  Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also. (KJV)
II Corinthians 12:11  I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. (KJV)

The Luke passage says that everyone who boasts will be humbled, which Paul is agreeing with in the 2 Corinthians passages.  Chapter 11 is admitting to having boasted too much (and is thus humbling himself), and in Chapter 12, he is admitting that he himself is nothing without God, which is a statement which glorifies God, not himself.  Not a contradiction.
