IS WISDOM GOOD OR BAD?
Proverbs 3:13  Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. (KJV)

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. (KJV)

Ecclesiastes 1:17-18  And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.  For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. (KJV)

I Corinthians1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

Context is immensely important here.  Read from all of Proverbs 3 and 4, and you'll see that it's talking about wisdom about, and understanding of, spiritual matters.  Read from Ecclesiastes 1:12 and you'll see that it's talking about earthly matters.  The 1 Corinthians verse is referring back to Isaiah 29:13-14 which talks about people who "have removed their heart far from" the Lord.  These people are not one with God, and thus they (and their wisdom) are only temporary.

Focusing too much on the temporal and less on the eternal will bring you grief and sorrow.  Without God, any wisdom you gain is only temporary.  Not a contradiction.
