| WOULD DAVID'S THRONE ENDURE FOREVER? |
| Psalms 89:35-36 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not
lie unto David. His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as
the sun before me. (KJV)
Psalms 89:44 Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground. (KJV)

| Considering the fact that these two passages are from the same psalm, the idea of a true contradiction here is rather ridiculous. Also, this is poetry and not meant to be taken literal. But what is being said in verses 35-36 is that David's kingdom would endure forever (which it does through Jesus), and verse 44 is talking about David himself, whose rule (as an individual) was cast down. Not a contradiction. |
