| DID DAVID PROPHECIZE HIS BEING KILLED BY SAUL? |
| I Samuel 27:1. And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one
day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should
speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair
of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out
of his hand.

| Note: The assumption of contradiction is that Saul died before David,
and David died by natural means, meaning this 'prophecy' was never
fulfilled.
This isn't a prophecy. David was worried that Saul was going to kill him, so he fled. This would be a rather odd prophecy, since it both says that David would be killed by Saul, and also that David would escape from Saul. All we have here is David's thoughts as he realizes that Saul will kill him if he stays in Israel, so he decides to flee to the land of the Philistines so that Saul can't capture him. Not a contradiction. |
