| Arent there some striking parallels between the Jesus and Indra stories? |
| Nope. This is another one that critics claim parallels the Jesus
story without saying how. Indra was a god popular in India and Tibet,
and was at one time considered the ruler of all other gods. He was
a warrior god who, like Apollo, rode a chariot across the sky carrying the
sun. He was also a thunder god who carried a lightning bolt, net, hook
and bow. He was famous for battling Vritra who disguised himself as
a dragon and stole all of the world's water. He killed his mother as
she gave birth to him by breaking out of her side. He was a womanizer
and a criminal who was punished by castration. He had no virgin birth, apostles,
death or resurrection. Nothing about him really compares to Jesus.
