Frequently Asked Questions

If someone has a difficult time believeing that the stories from Genesis (Adam and Eve, Noah's Ark, etc.) actually happened, does that mean they cannot be a Christian?
The fact is that many Christians do not believe these stories to be strictly literal. In my opinion, the most important thing is that we get meaning from this story.  Jesus frequently spoke in parables, so it's not impossible that the Genesis stories (which are believed to have been given to Moses by God) could be metaphorical as well.

We need to apply these stories to how we live today. If they are true, and someone believes they are not, God can certainly forgive them for it. I would say that somebody who gets meaning from these stories, yet does not take them to be literal, is probably better off than someone who takes them to be literal, but gets no meaning from them.
