| Jewish law states that all OFFICIAL rabbis must be married. Though Jesus
did accept the title 'rabbi' from people on occasion, He was clearly not
an official rabbi, and thus there would be no requirement for Him to be married.
John 7:15 says "And the Jews marveled, saying, 'How does this man have learning,
having never studied?'" Is Jesus was an official rabbi, He would have to
have studied. The New Testament also makes it clear that Jesus was an enemy
of the scribes and pharisees of His day. This could not have been the case
if Jesus was recognized by them as a rabbi. This aside, COULD Jesus have
been married? No. If He was, it would have mentioned this fact SOMEWHERE
in the Bible. Some argue that the wedding Jesus attends in Cana was His own
wedding, though the Bible clearly states that He was 'invited' (John 2:2).
The groom would never be 'invited' to his own wedding! So, overall, the argument
that Jesus was married has nothing to support it and much to contradict it. |
