A Letter I Received Re: My Bias And Lack Of Homework
You obviously didn't study very hard to de-bunk these myths, and your refutation is very biased. You didn't even get alot of the myths you speak against correctly. It's like you're trying to speak a language that you have only read about. I see errors all over especially when it comes to Mithras, Krishna and Osiris. Have you ever heard "don't believe everything you read?" there is alot of contradicting stories about all myths if you read the first thing you come to. It looks to me like you found material that best suits your agenda. I do however agree that some of those names should not be there and they were put there just to re-assure some atheist who is curious. However you are just as guilty of the same crime. Your webpage is a little re-assurance for those Christians who venture out and become curious. But it retains alot of disinformation.

It makes me sad that modern Christianity teaches their views on subjective scripture as the religion's truth with a capital T. Your bible as it is taught is only reflection of that attitude.

My Response:

My method of studying is to visit mythology web sites that tell the stories, and read the stories for myself.

You didn't even get alot of the myths you speak against correctly.

Feel free to correct me where I've made mistakes.  I've invited others to do so, and have made corrections to my page based on their feedback (see the Krishna page, especially)

Absolutely.  It's my primary advice to those who read books by Christ-mythers.

there is alot of contradicting stories about all myths if you read the first thing you come to. It looks to me like you found material that best suits your agenda.

If you have material which goes against my agenda, that is copies of the myths which contain obvious parallels to Jesus, I will be glad to take a look at them and fix my page accordingly.

Nothing on my page is made up out of thin air, as are many of the supposed deities Christ-mythers use as parallels.

Your webpage is a little re-assurance for those Christians who venture out and become curious. But it retains alot of disinformation.

Feel free to let me know what my disinformation is, and I'll gladly fix the pages.

Actually, I agree with most of what you just said there.  When trying to understand the Bible, I personally try to understand what the authors themselves were trying to say instead of how it is interpreted by people today.

Peace,

David
