A Letter I Received Re: Dionysus & Horus
Joshua wrote:

Please try to see past your attachment to your current faith and realize all of the importance of Christianity was around before the religions current packaging. It doesn't have to change the way you feel about God or any incarnation of God you want to recognize. All of the themes present in the Jesus Myth were borrowed from the Osiris Dionysus myths. I want you to reconize that it is repackaged goodness along with mans evil venom see past the collective our religion is super to see that the truth reaches back further than something that happened 2008 years ago.

The reason you recognize January 6th and December 25 is because these two dates are taken from different parts of history. Winter solstice was on the 6th of January but it is ever advancing due to our calender system later it was on the 25 of December today it lands on the 22nd of December's.

Oh and the riding a donkey into town part wasn't for royalty donkeys are symbolic for our lower self the lustful, reactionary, dividing self.

I suggest you read the Jesus mysteries written by two people who spent years and years compiling their evidence.

here read over these points:

i expect you already know a lot of Jesus.

guess who's here:

Dionysus or Bacchus is thought of as being Greek, but he is a remake of the Egyptian god Osiris, whose cult extended throughout a large part of the ancient world for thousands of years. Dionysuss religion was well-developed in Thrace, northeast of Greece, and Phrygia, which became Galatia, where Attis also later reigned. Although a Dionysus is best remembered for the rowdy celebrations in his name, which was Latinized as Bacchus, he had many other functions and contributed several aspects to the Jesus character:

--Dionysus was born of a virgin on December 25 and, as the Holy Child, was placed in a manger.

--He was a traveling teacher who performed miracles.

--He rode in a triumphal procession on an ***.

--He was a sacred king killed and eaten in an eucharistic ritual for fecundity and purification.

--Dionysus rose from the dead on March 25.

--He was the God of the Vine, and turned water into wine.

--He was called King of Kings and God of Gods.

--He was considered the Only Begotten Son, Savior, Redeemer, Sin Bearer, Anointed One, and the Alpha and Omega.

--He was identified with the Ram or Lamb.

--His sacrificial title of Dendrites or Young Man of the Tree intimates he was hung on a tree or crucified.

In the Egyptian myth, Horus and his once-and-future Father, Osiris, are frequently interchangeable, as in I and my Father are one. Concerning Osiris, Walker says: Of all savior-gods worshiped at the beginning of the Christian era, Osiris may have contributed more details to the evolving Christ figure than any other. Already very old in Egypt, Osiris was identified with nearly every other Egyptian god and was on the way to absorbing them all. He had well over 200 divine names. He was called the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, God of Gods.

He was the Resurrection and the Life, the Good Shepherd, Eternity and Everlastingness, the god who made men and women to be born again. Budge says, From first to last, Osiris was to the Egyptians the god-man who suffered, an died, and rose again, and reigned eternally in heaven.

They believed that they would inherit eternal life, just as he had done . . .

Osiriss coming was announced by Three Wise Men: the three stars Mintaka, Anilam, and

Alnitak in the belt of Orion, which point directly to Osiriss star in the east, Sirius

(Sothis), significator of his birth . . .

Certainly Osiris was a prototypical Messiah, as well as a devoured Host. His flesh was eaten in the form of communion cakes of wheat, the plant of Truth. . . . The cult of Osiris contributed a number of ideas and phrases to the Bible. The 23rd Psalm copied an Egyptian text appealing to Osiris the Good Shepherd to lead the deceased to the green pastures and still waters of the nefer-nefer land, to restore the soul to the body, and to give protection in the valley of the shadow of death (the Tuat). The Lords Prayer was prefigured by an Egyptian hymn to Osiris-Amen beginning, O Amen, O Amen, who are in heaven. Amen was also invoked at the end of every prayer. As Col. James Chruchward naively exclaims, The teachings of Osiris and Jesus are wonderfully alike. Many passages are identically the same, word for word.Osiris was also the god of the vine and a great travelling teacher who civilized the world. He was the ruler and judge of the dead. In his passion, Osiris was plotted against and killed by Set and the 72. Like that of Jesus, Osiriss resurrection served to provide hope to all that they may do likewise and become eternal.

Osiriss son or renewed incarnation, Horus, shares the following in common with Jesus:

--Horus was born of the virgin Isis-Merion December 25 in a cave/manger with his birth being announced by a star in the East and attended by three wise men.

--His earthly father was named Seb (Joseph).

--He was of royal descent.

--At at 12, he was a child teacher in the Temple, and at 30, he was baptized having disappeared for 18 years.

--Horus was baptized in the river Eridanus or Iarutana (Jordan) by Anup the Baptizer (John the Baptist), who was decapitated.

--He had 12 desciples, two of who were his witnesses and were named Anup and Aan (the two Johns).

--He performed miracles, exorcised demons and raised El-Azarus (El-Osiris), from the dead.

--Horus walked on water.

--His personal epithet was Iusa, the ever-becoming son of Ptah, the Father. He was thus called Holy Child.

--He delivered a Sermon on the Mount and his followers recounted the Sayings of Iusa.

--Horus was transfigured on the Mount.

--He was crucified between two thieves, buried for three days in a tomb, and resurrected.

--He was also the Way, the Truth, the Light, Messiah, Gods Anointed Son, the Son of Man, the Good Shepherd, the Lamb of God, the Word made flesh, the Word of Truth, etc.

--He was the Fisher and was associated with the Fish (Ichthys), Lamb and Lion.

--He came to fulfill the Law.

--Horus was called the KRST, or Anointed One.

--Like Jesus, Horus was supposed to reign one thousand years.

Furthermore, inscribed about 3,500 years ago [1500 years before Jesus alleged advent] on the walls of the Temple at Luxor were images of the Annunciation, Immaculate Conception, Birth and Adoration of Horus, with Thoth announcing to the Virgin Isis that she will conceive Horus; with Kneph the Holy Ghost, impregnating the virgin; and with the infant being attended bh three kings, or magi, bearing gifts. In addition, in the catacombs at Rome are pictures of the baby Horus being held by the virgin mother Isisthe original Madonna and Child.

My Response:

Joshua,

I hate to point out your mistake, but you never show these lists to people who have actually studied ancient mythology. You're supposed to only show them to people who are unfamiliar with mythology and thus won't know that your lists are completely wrong. Those people might be naive enough for you to convince them. Anyone who's actually studied mythology won't be. I've already responded to the Dionysus and Osiris/Horus claims on my site, and have shown that they have no basis in ancient mythology. But don't take my word for it. I'd like you to investigate the claims for yourself.

I'll give you $1000 to prove your claims regarding Dionysis or Osiris/Horus. I'm not asking for much in the way of proof. Just point me to a version of the story, one scholars generally agree is pre-Christian, in which those things happen (or if the details come from multiple versions of their stories, show me the different versions). Don't just point me to some "scholar" claiming those things happen, but the story itself. If you can't find the stories themselves, then any compelling evidence that they're pre-Christian will do. If you're claiming it's all from heiroglyphs, just show me photos of the heiroglyphs. I maintain that most of these comparisons arose in post-Christian times, mostly from the 18th century or later.

Good luck.

David

Joshua responded:

Hahahahaha Great Challenge I'll Take it. Due to the suppression of information after the rise of the Christian faith these ideas were only uttered for the First 300 years of Christianity and the last 300 Years since the rise of the science of anthropology in the 18th century when the church stopped killing scientists for going "against" the church.

P.S. I don't feel these Ideas hurt Christianity as much as it dispels some of the bad stigma from translating the bible literally because really our religions are compounded. Christianity is just our modern form of the outer mysteries of paganism all dressed up anew.

Oh and who's mythology did you study? What culture and era?

Allow me to reiterate I am not trying to create a rift but simply sew a truth back together.

Please Check out http://www.timothyfreke.com as he is the one who turned me on to these ideas (which I know you asked me not to do to prove to you my stance.) I will work to gather more evidence for you, but I understand this man has spent more time with his eyes open than I and as such I want to share him with you.

I responded:

Great! I look forward to seeing if you can find any evidence.

As for what mythology I've studied, I've researched the deities that Christ-mythers claim that the Jesus story "borrowed" from (those that exist, that is - Many of them, like Bacab, Beddru, Bremrillah, Crite, Gentaut, Hil, Ieo, Ischy, Jao, Mikado, Samheim, and Zoar of the Bonzes, appear to have been completely fabricated by Christ-mythers and aren't actually part of any culture's mythology.) I've gone to general mythology websites, e-mailed Christ-myther sites seeing if they can back up their claims, talked to followers of the religions that Christ-mythers claim the Jesus story borrows from to see if those "comparison points" are something that is part of their religion (they're not), and have asked those who have e-mailed me, claiming to have evidence, to actually provide their evidence (none have). I even e-mailed Acharya S asking her to back up her claims regarding Horus, and all she did was repeat the claims and tell me to go look elsewhere. Go figure!

The fact that, so far, absolutely everyone I've met promoting these Christ-myth theories has backed down when I've challenged them to provide the evidence their claims, convinces me that there is no evidence to be had. It's now gotten to the point where I'm offering $1000 to someone to see if that motivates them to actually look for it (I'll probably put the offer on my website for all Christ-myters, but I'll give you the first crack at it). I shouldn't have to offer money to them in exchange for their evidence. If they make claims, say they have evidence for them, but refuse to provide the evidence when asked, then that's intellectual dishonesty. Why aren't they parading it for all the world to see? The burden is on them to present their evidence, and I'm still waiting for someone to do so. Let me know if you find it.

David

I have yet to hear back from him.
