Okay. Except for lyrics, there's not much on my site yet. But I DO have all of their lyrics, and that's something, isn't it? I also recently added (based on a vistor's suggestion) info for people trying to buy their rare early albums. Just scroll down to that album, and you'll see the websites and prices below (which, of course, are subject to change).
Prior to my hearing the Newsboys, I was under the impression that all 'Christian' music was lame imitations of secular stuff. Just play what everyone else is playing, but throw in a verse or two about Jesus, right? One day, out of curiosity (and boredom from what every other station was playing) I decided to try the local Christian radio station. I've got to say that most of what I heard didn't impress me much. But every once in a while, I'd hear something like "Shine" or "Breathe" and I knew there was some great Christian music out there. Of course, once I heard "Breakfast", I knew I had found something incredible. "Take Me To Your Leader" was the first Christian CD I ever bought, followed by "Not Ashamed". I'll never get tired of the Newsboys' music. They don't sound like anyone else, but they have a timeless sound. They're bold, as rock and roll should be.
To all of my fellow Newsboys fans, I'd like to know if there's anything you'd like to see on this site. Feel free to E-mail me with comments or suggestions, or any messages you'd like me to post. Unfortunately, I'm having a little trouble with images, so if you want to send me pictures to post, it may not be possible. Contact Me with comments or suggestions. In fact, if anyone has the writing credits to their first three albums, I would love to know who wrote which songs.
Someone wrote me with a response to the Newsboys concert on 11/17/02. They said, "I saw the Newsboys last Sunday along with By the Tree, Superchick and Zoe Girl. Superchick was phenomenal. Great heart. Get their album, Last one picked. Smart smart lyrics - the stuff that endeared me to ST [Steve Taylor]. Newsboys were fantastic and played many songs from Thrive including Million pieces (with video) Cornelius and John Woo and a fantastic Lord I dont know. Finished like u2 and led us in singing "It is You" while leaving the stage - the crowd sang "Holy holy is our God almighty. Holy holy is His name alone" for ten minutes while the stage was dark and empty. Very moving."

"NOT ASHAMED" - 1992
"Uncommonly talented Australians found the musical direction they needed with Steve (Chagall Guevara) Taylor's beat-heavy production and sardonic lyric bent. The Euro-beat "I'm Not Ashamed" is the one with the real crossover potential, but there's nary a weak track in the lot. Sales will be boosted by the band's manic touring schedule and wild, state-of-the-art concerts. This is fun stuff, well-played, and well worth a spin." (Billboard Magazine review 12/19/92)
"GOING PUBLIC" - 1994
| 1. | Real Good Thing |
| 2. | Shine |
| 3. | Spirit Thing |

| 9. | When You Called My Name |
| 10. | Elle G. |
"One of the most eagerly awaited releases in contemporary Christian music,
''Going Public'' is already flying off the shelves--and with good reason:
This is the 'Boys' breakthrough release. The first three
songs--''Real Good Thing,''
''Shine,'' and ''Spirit
Thing''--are as good as CCM gets. Every tune is danceable, hummable,
and memorable, aided in no small part by Steve Taylor's streetwise, heartwise
lyrics and savvy production. ''Going Public'' will be hard to dislodge as
the genre's best release of the year." (Billboard Magazine Review 8/27/94)

| 11. | Breathe (Benediction) |
"Christian rockers the Newsboys' sixth outing is their most ambitious to date and the one with the most promise for crossover appeal. Once again, Steve Taylor returns as producer, and he and founding member Peter Furler steer this talented outfit toward an organic sound that works well with this collection of tunes. Mostly written by Taylor, Furler, and bassist Phil Urry, the first-rate material ranges from the melodic "Let It Go" to the lyrically pointed "Cup Of Tea." Other highlights include the title tune, "Reality," "It's All Who You Know," and "Breathe." An album that shows why this innovative band continues to gain an enthusiastic following."
